Frequently Asked Questions
The Beer Game is an experiential learning exercise originally developed at MIT in the 1960s to illustrate the complexities of supply chain management. It's a role-play simulation game where participants manage a supply chain consisting of a brewery, distributor, wholesaler, and retailer. The objective is to meet customer demand for beer while minimizing costs and avoiding inventory backlogs or shortages.
Yes. With a Free account, you can create single-player games. This lets you discover the app freely by playing against the computer. To organize sessions with external participants, a paid plan is required. This helps us ensure maximum value for you while maintaining a sustainable business.
The Beer Game is widely used in business schools, corporate training programs and consulting firms to teach the principles of supply chain management, and highlight the importance of effective communication in managing complex systems.
The online Beer Game offers several advantages over its physical counterpart. It allows for broader accessibility, enabling participants from different locations to join in. The digital format provides enhanced data tracking and analysis capabilities, and it's scalable for larger groups or multiple sessions. Check out our complete analysis on our blog.
The Beer Game can be implemented by educators, corporate trainers, business consultants, and managers seeking to enhance their team's understanding of supply chain management. It's especially beneficial for professionals in operations, logistics, procurement, and strategic planning.
The Beer Game helps explore several key supply chain principles, including the bullwhip effect (where small changes in consumer demand cause larger fluctuations upstream in the supply chain), inventory management, lead times, the impact of communication and collaboration across the supply chain, and the challenges of forecasting and meeting customer demand.
Yes, you can customise our Beer Game to your brand’s colors with our Premium Plan! By customizing the Beer Game with your logo and colors, participants will project themselves as if they were managing your company's actual supply chain
It's unlimited! You can also add multiple organisers: essential for handling large group sessions, facilitating learning and debriefing or for those who don’t feel comfortable hosting a session on their own
Yes of course, you just need to schedule a Demo with us!
You can create any number of game sessions. However for Conference plans we limit the number of participants that can connect to your games throughout the plan duration.
When you reach the maximum included in your plan, no more participants can connect. Another payment will then be needed for more players to join. If you need to play a trial game before your actual event, please contact us at [email protected].
You'll be billed immediately after choosing a plan. However you can still receive a full refund within 7 days after payment. Simply drop us a line at [email protected]. Please note that refunds are only issued if you have not yet organized a successful live event.
If you would like to try multi-player games before making a decision, a trial period can be activated on an individual basis. To do so, please contact us at [email protected].
You can pay with a credit or debit card for all plans. For Annual plans or Large/Unlimited Conference plans, we can generate an invoice payable by your company or university via bank transfer. To request an invoice, please contact us at [email protected].
Yes. We hope that teachers and managers use the app for several occasions throughout the year — in classes, workshops, trainings, seminars, etc. We recommend Annual Plans in order to access and fully explore the full range of Zensimu’s features. If you really only need the app for a one-time event, we have you covered with the Conference plans.
When the period of your plan is over, no more participants will be able to connect to play your simulations. However, you will still be able to view all previously created games and reports. Subscriptions do not renew automatically, so you must purchase a new plan to extend your access.
